[Gimp-user] Creating a sun flare.

Hello everyone,

I would like to create something similar like in the attached image bellow. How
can I create something like this?

I tried supernova and then blurring it but the rays were exceed way too far even
in the lowest setting. I also tried radial gradients that also did not help
much. I want the rays to be just enough long from the center I need the color
change be as smooth as possible, no sharp edges.
