[Gimp-user] control + shift + u boxed U will not go away

I was recently trying to insert a copyright symbol using the control + shift + u
method but now I have this boxed u that will not go away. It has no text box of
its own and I cant figure out any way to select it. Is there someway to get rid
of it?
