[Gimp-user] GIMP 2.8.10 won't open in my dock

I've downloaded GIMP 2.8.10 SL LION ML x64 twice. First time couldn't I get it
to be recognized by my MacBook Pro and now, after the second try of downloading
it, successfully this time (I think), it won't open up in my dock after having
dragged it to my Applications folder. What gives? How can I resolve this issue?

Using Version 10.6.8 of OS X.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
