[Gimp-user] Toolbox icon spacing

I am on SUSE 12.2 kde, gimp-2.8.0

The icon spacing in the toolbox randomly changes its inter icon
spacing, see http://members.pcug.org.au/~rcook/images/Toolbox.jpg

The only way I can get it back to normal seems to be to close gimp down
and restart it

Maybe it has been corrected in 2.8.4 but SUSE haven't offered this in
their repositories.

Is there another setting that I can tweak to restore the inter icon
spacing
