How do you transfer gedit settings and plugins from an old machine?
I just tried the obvious thing:
I copied the gedit folder in /home/username/.config/ from the old machine
to the same place on the new machine.
But this didn't work. gedit doesn't recognize my preferences.
How should this be done?
What I do is to have a separate partition for /home and I copy it when
changing the hard disk (I always have a recent backup anyway).
Otherwise you need to copy ~/.config/, ~/.local/share/, and copy the
directory or file where the dconf values are stored.
The settings are stored with GSettings, usually with the dconf backend
on GNU/Linux.
Hope that helps,
Sébastien
