[gedit-list] Transferring gedit settings to another user profile

How do you transfer gedit settings and plugins from an old machine?

I just tried the obvious thing:

I copied the gedit folder in /home/username/.config/ from the old machine to the same place on the new machine.

But this didn't work. gedit doesn't recognize my preferences.

How should this be done?
