unfortunately we do not have the resources nor the knowledge to write syntax files for every language of the world.
If you create a syntax file for SPSS feel free to contribute it in
bugzilla.gnome.org and we will integrate it.

I would ask, as a suggestion, if Gedit in the future can support a highlight mode for SPSS syntax. Currently there is a software that supports SPSS syntax (GNU PSPP), but as with other options, it would be great to use my favorite text editor for the job (as the current support for R and Octave).
