I tried this out in a few random editors, all of which auto-indent by
default:
    Eclipse does not strip strip the spaces.
    Code::Blocks does not strip the spaces.
    Editra does not strip the spaces.
    Geany does not strip the spaces by default, but provides an option under
Preferences > Editor > Features:
        "Newline strips trailing spaces"
