Re: [gedit-list] trouble installing plugins

Hi Xin,

I'm the author of the Snapopen plugin.

Paolo is right, it should work (and does for many :-)) when untarred into .gnome2/plugins
Furthermore, to utilize its features, you should really enable the
file browser plugin, since snapopen will autocomplete from any
file beneath the file browsers 'root' directory.
I have however noticed a 'bootstrap' glitch:
You have to specifically set the filebrowser root at least once
(since the plugin checks gconf for file browser root existance).
From then i'll run, it even respects file browser 'show hidden files' flag,
for completion into hidden files/dirs.

The title bar of the snapopen dialog will tell you its mode:
It should say 'filebrowser integration' and not pwd (which is fallback).

And yes, Paolo, my site was down there for a moment :-)

Regards,
Mads

Hi List,

I am having a lot of difficulties installing the snapopen plugin, http://www.upperbound.net/upperbound/show/SnapOpen+plugin+for+Gedit .

I'm on Ubuntu Feisty, using the default gedit 2.18.1

I followed the author's suggestion of putting it in ~/.gnome2/gedit/plugins. This had no effect.
I tried putting it in /usr/lib/gedit-2/plugins. Nothing.

Amazingly, couldn't find *any* plugin installation guide on your website.

Can anyone help me to get this installed?

Cheers,
Xin
