Great... you are assigned to the 'port sort plugin' task.

Pay attention to the fact that gedit is using UTF-8 as internal text 
encoding.

Read http://www.unicode.org/unicode/reports/tr10/ for more info on 
sorting UTF-8 strings.
Is there also a chapter in the Unicode Standard about sorting
(http://www.unicode.org/uni2book/ch05.pdf).

I think there should be some glib functions that can help you in 
implementing the core functionality of the sort plugin.
