Some updates and request for comments - on the 'Files to upload' page I was asked to provide a source for the content of the email displayed in the screenshot that geary uses on its gnome page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Files_for_upload#geary_3.32_screenshot

While I generally am fimilar with copyright law in some jurisdictions, I am not sure about Wikipedia's policies, so I would defer to more established Wikipedia contributors in some way.

Any comments on this?

so some updates - I could now upload the pictures myself. But I wasn't sure what license to pick. As I chose only for educational use or non-commercial (as they are not public domain or CC Zero or GFDL) with a note to LGPL 2.1 they were right away marked for deletion. I again commented on the talk page to argue against deletion due to LGPL and permission to upload (linking the mailing list thread) but they were still deleted.

So atm I do not know how to proceed to get these uploaded. According to their list of acceptable licenses the files should be permitted https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:File_copyright_tags/Free_licenses but when uploading, these are not a possible choice. So I am not sure how to proceed atm.

FWIW, I filed an upload request for the pictures as I cannot do that yet with my account. Looks like a good start, thanks! You're welcome to use images from the wiki for the page, if you need to upload them and the new icon, you can put down attribution for the screenshots as me, and Jakub Steiner for the icon.

I left the history part for now and just streamlined it a bit, though I removed a lot of that 'storytelling' in the technical information part. I also think that as the projects have sufficiently diverged, some info about Pantheon mail is ok, but definitely not as much as there was.

Yeah, I think it's definitely good to keep that aspect of the history, and that probably seems like a good place to keep a mention of the contributions Elementary made and the fork as well. //Mike
