Hi,
Just for the record: If Geary is able to accept contributions via GSoC,
I'd likely apply for it as well. I did some work for Geary back in
2014/15 and wanted to apply for GSoC 2015 as well, but unfortunately
Jim/Yorba decided they won't take any GSoC students.
I'm very interested in OpenPGP support but I also like the idea of
integrating libfolks and think that proper multipart handling would be
an important improvement. There are also a few smaller things I'd like
to contribute that would make Geary more user-friendly, e.g. when
replying to a mailing list while using multiple identities, the
automatic from-address selection does not work because the to-field
points to the mailing list and not the receiving address.
Please keep us updated in this regard when GNOME GSoC admins confirm
Geary can participate under GNOME org. Thanks!
Marvin

Hi,
Thanks for getting in touch about this! It would be great to have you
contributing to Geary as part of GSoC.
I'm probably able to mentor for Geary, but will talk to the GNOME
GSoC admins to confirm. The other geary devs (Niels & Gautier) may be
interested as well.
It might indeed be worthwhile having a look at Geary bugs labelled
with the newcomers keyword[0], and seeing if there is something there
you can look into fixing. This would both help with learning vala,
and to become more familiar with Geary's codebase. Let me know if you
would like some suggestions.
Some potential GSoC projects include:
- Supporting GPG encryption and signing [1]
- Improving contact management [2][3]
- Improving multipart handling [4]
Do any of these sound interesting?

Hi, I want to apply for Google Summer of Code. And I want to
contribute to Geary, what I want to know is Geary suitable for a
GSoC project?
And if it is, who will be the mentor? Need I fix some bug first for
applying for GSoC?
I've learned C/C++ before and some other coding languages such as
Python, Objective-C, Java and etc. Right now I am learning vala.
I am looking forward to contributing to GNOME and Geary
Thanks in advance!
