There's no way to default to bottom-posting at the moment, however Geary will do so on a per-message basis if you highlight the text you want to reply to before clicking the reply button - the selected text will be quoted in the new message and the cursor will be placed below it.

There's a few bugs open about this already - Bug 731181[0] and somewhat relatedly Bug 751422[1].

There is a problem too : despite spell-checking being enabled in the preferences, Geary is unable to spot wrong spellings. What could be wrong ?

You may need to install a supported spell checker. Geary uses WebKitGTK for composing, which in turn uses Libenchant[3] to access a spell checker. So make sure you have one of Aspell/Ispell/Myspell or something else installed along with the supported dictionaries. Currently Geary only supports spell checking in the default desktop language, but the next release will support multiple, user-selectable languages.

I'm glad you're otherwise enjoying using Geary!
