Using the IMAP interface for Office 365 has been reported to work, so 
you shouldn't be experiencing a problem.

First off, double check you have your correct login name and password 
set for SMTP as well as IMAP. If that doesn't help, try starting Geary 
from the command line with debugging enabled - i.e. run "geary -d", 
then add the account and see what is printed in the terminal after you 
press the Add button for the new account.

Feel free to copy and paste the relevant output into an email here 
(remove your account details from the output if needed).
