I agree that it's not much self-explanatory if you take the icon out of 
its context and ask a person what it might mean. But in the context of 
Geary I think that a user can easily see that the icon on the top right 
is identical to the icon of its Archive folder. The same correlation is 
used for the other icons.. I would say that the label or the empty 
trash/spam icons can be considered as much not self-explanatory as the 
archive icon.

I prefer a clean and consistent interface.
