Thanks Adam,
It works! :)
I can live with the second issue for now. ;)

LK,
I'm running Ubuntu 14.10 and problem #1 has bitten me too. I think it's this bug:
As a workaround I've disabled IBus. To do that, go to System Settings -> Language Support and set "Keyboard input method: none". You'll need to log out and log back in after making this change. If you do that, I bet you'll be able to type normally in Geary.

First of all, huge thanks everyone behind Geary for the best email client ever made-only-for-Linux.
Now the problem :) I have been happily using Geary for nearly a year now but every since upgraded to Ubuntu 14.10, I'm facing some problems.
1 - After installing the daily build from the PPA, I can't compose emails anymore. The CPU level goes to almost 100% the moment I start typing in the composer. After typing 2-3 letters...I don't see anything being typed either.
2 - Second problem is small irritant actually... the background area where you enter email addresses and subject is all black irrespective of the theme I use. Everything is fine with the same version of Geary on Ubuntu 14.04 though.
PS - I tried building from the last stable source and that doesn't even start Geary :(
Thanks for your help,
LK
