Not quite. Geary mines your messages for email addresses and uses
those for auto-completion. There are some heuristics to choose the
best form of and order the contacts, so it's probably finding your
Google contacts from the messages you've sent to and received from them.
The long-term plan, as I understand it, is to interface with Gnome
Contacts, which I think can pull contacts from Google. Details are

Thank you for the clarification. Being able to use Gnome contacts would be
perfect. I see you say "long term" and I assume that may mean it'll take
quite some time for it to happen.
