Ok, I found a workaround
there's a bug about that reference here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=590456

The gdm login widget (gdm-2.30.2) is broken when one has chosen to disable
the
user list.
I vaguely remember fixing this bug earlier this year (June or July
maybe?), but don't remember many of the details, and i can't find it
given a brief search.

yes now it seems to work fine, I removed the entry disable_user_list though ! in fact now with sssd on fedora13 there's apparently no nead to desable user_list in GDM, on our multiuser (ldap) labs stations, the list of previously logged in users doesn't appear anymore .
However I still don't know why it worked fine with user_list disabled since
we installed stations back in August, and why suddenly now it doesn't
anymore ?
Not sure.
why the bug didn't shows up before is my "fault", %gconf.xml (size 0) files wheren't present in previous directories before simple-greeter directory ! as soon as I set those "0" files in previous directory, then my real simple-greeter/%gconf.xml file get read and executed the diseable_user_list generating the "1 pixel" login screen !.
what is the meaning of the "mtime" value ?
could something expired !?
That's used by gconf, it won't affect the behavior of how gdm runs.
Ok, now everything seems fine, exept the language selection which doesn't appear ... maybe I miss something else, I'll check ...

Thanks .
