Re: [gdm-list] Is it possible to launch an application when we press Ctrl + Alt +Del

Renju:

Is it possible to execute an application when we press Ctrl + Alt +Del. Right now, when we press Ctrl + Alt +Del i'm getting the Shutdown + Logout + LockScreen + Restart Dialog. How do we disable this permanently. which gconf file i should edit for this..

Do you mean Ctrl-Alt-Backspace? This keybinding is defined by the
Xserver and basically causes the Xserver to stop and restart. In some
situations this can be useful (if, for example, your Xserver hangs for
some reason). Outside of such "emergencies", I would not recommend that
people exit their sessions using this technique. Using this method, for
example, doesn't always do proper cleanup and may leave processes
running. I've had some users complain that if certain processes (such
as their GConf daemon), are left running it can cause future logins to
fail until you kill the offending processes.

At any rate, you should be able to disable this feature in your Xserver
configuration. Refer to the Xorg manpage and documentation for more
information.
