Francesco:
I'm not really much of an autoconf wizard. It sounds like you understand
how this could work a lot better than I do. If you wanted to try out
your idea, and test to make sure it works okay, then I'd be happy to
accept a patch that makes this work better.

Hello,
Could anybody please tell me whether a patch for the following bug is
available in gdm?
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471978
I just fixed this bug for the GDM 2.20.0 release. Now you can specify
the location of the at-spi-registryd via the --with-at-spidir configure
argument. Your distro will still need to use this flag when configuring
GDM to fix the problem. I assume you can follow up with them on this?
- There is no indication of it being fixed in the bug thread. (There was
a discussion about fixing it on the gdm mailing list about 2 weeks ago.)
- The archives of the gdm mailing list contain no new message about the
problem.
- at-spi-registryd still does not run during gdmlogin with the version
2.19.8 currently shipped in Ubuntu 7.10.
If a patch is available, I will let it know on the ubuntu desktop
mailing list and in the bug thread that I filed against gdm in ubuntu.
Thanks in advance for any piece of information.
No problem, you should now be able to work with your distro to fix the
problem using the configure option specified above. Thanks for helping
us identify the fix for this problem.
Also, some other fixes have gone into GDM 2.20 that fix some gesture
listener crashing issues that should improve how well a11y works in GDM.
Brian
