ahhh, excellent.  i got it installed in the end although i left it
unattended and i think several things failed to installed because
although it starts it seems quite a broken install!

i think i will start it again and keep a log of the compilation.  thanks
for your help, i'm sure i'll be asking for it again soon! :)
