xft download problem

Hi,
   I am using garnomee-0.27.1 and get the following error message after 
cd meta/gnome-desktop; make install.

07:27:36 ERROR 404: Not Found.

It appears that the specified version of xft is not available. Is there 
a workaropund for this problem?
