I don't know anything about the 'why' of the solution, but I think it is
fixed. This is my process:
I think I was seeing the same problem as you:
checking GRANDR_APPLET_LIBS... -pthread -Wl,--export-dynamic
-L/home/user1/garnome/lib -lpanel-applet-2 -lgnomeui-2 -lSM -lICE
-lbonoboui-2 -lxml2 -lpthread -lz -lgnomecanvas-2 -lgnome-2 -lpopt
-lart_lgpl_2 -lpangoft2-1.0 -lgtk-x11-2.0 -lgdk-x11-2.0 -latk-1.0
-lgdk_pixbuf-2.0 -lpangoxft-1.0 -lpangox-1.0 -lpango-1.0 -lbonobo-2
-lgconf-2 -lgnomevfs-2 -lbonobo-activation -lORBit-2 -lgobject-2.0
-lgthread-2.0 -lm -lgmodule-2.0 -ldl -lglib-2.0 -liconv
checking for XRRSetScreenConfigAndRate in -lXrandr... no
configure: error: "Suitable Xrandr extension library not found - you
need at least X 4.3"
make[1]: *** [configure-work/main.d/grandr_applet-0.2/configure] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/user1/garnome-0.27.1/gnome/grandr_applet'
make: *** [../../gnome/grandr_applet/cookies/main.d/install] Error 2
[user1 hoho2 gnome-power-tools]$
What to do? - I just put the words 'Suitable Xrandr extension library'
into Google and looked at the references that turned up. One of them was
http://www.vosberg.be/doc/gnome/garnome2.shtml, written by
Door: Frederik Vos <mailto:fvos vosberg be>
Van toepassing op: Garnome 0.27.1
I just scrolled through this page and looked for the section on
'gnome-power-tools'
It reads as follows:
gnome-powertools
grandr_applet compileert niet: |configure: error: "Suitable Xrandr
extension library not found - you need at least X 4.3"|
Ga naar
~/download/garnome-0.27.1/gnome/grandr_applet/work/main.d/grandr_applet-0.2
en open het configure bestand in je favoriete editor. Op regel 4866 vind
je: |found_randr=no|. Verander dit in |found_randr=yes|.
--- I don't know exactly what language it is written in (perhaps Dutch),
but the instructions were pretty clear. I made the change from =no to
=yes as indicated. The results are shown below.
(Have I finished building the power tools - no not quite yet. My build
is hanging a bit further)
