Compiling garnome into standard "/usr" directory isn't a good idea. When
installation fails from some reason you can stay with realy messed-up
system... Better location is something like "/usr/gnome" (this one is my own
location) - it doesn't overwrite anything in your stable system and lets you
test the gnome2 enviroment like part of that system (all you have to change
is one line in "xinit" and few lines in "profile"). And pkgconfig works fine
then... ;-)
