Can you play mp3-files with gst-player?

If you can you probably don't have the mp3-plugin compiled. The
configure scripts tries to auto-detect available encoders/decoders. So
you should check if you have a libmad-devel installed.
Those plugins are in <garnome>/gstreamer/gst-plugins.

I hope this fixes the problem.
