As an individual, I'm fine with the proposal of automatic renewal if
asked by the member. I think there is public record from those in the last
2 Board meeting minutes [*]. I think trying to gauge accurately who is an
active contributor at the time of the renewal is a hard, long and error
prone process and I far better see renewal of the membership list by
lack of interest of old members and arrival of new member not scared
of coming to a "private party".

If you think the minutes are not verbose enough, I invite you to apply
to the board, get elected and proceed from there ;-)
