This `reasonable compromise' is a decision "someone" and "somewhere"
took without the approval of the community at large.

Let alone the community, the very people who contribute to GNOME.

If you want to host your special closed mailing list, host it
somewhere else. It does not belong to the GNOME machine and much less
the gnome.org domain. The GNOME mailing list should be open to all
interested parties.
