Don't forget the third option (IMHO, it is the long way goal).
Libchamplain is currently out of scope, because there are no up-to-date
clutter bindings. And I'm not sure If sombody volunteers for creating
AND maintaining it (If there is somebody doing the stuff, I'm fine with
it). The effort to create osm-gps-map bindings and maintain them is
reasonable to get a first working version.
