terminal info

There has been lot's of very good development on the F-spot lately,
thanks for everyone, but there is one thing I do not understand.

On versions up to something 0.7 or so, when I was merging raw+jpg
pictures, the terminal was giving me usefull realtime info on what
files it was working with. I did consider this very usefull, since I
could estimate how long I needed to wait, and also I did see if it was
actually doing anything or not.

Now when I merge my files, the terminal only prompts me on errors.
This means I do not know how long it is going to take, or if it has
already crashed and is doing absolutely nothing.

I do not know if this makes any difference for anybody else, but I do
spend quite a lot of time waiting for the things F-spot does
(importing and merging mainly) and I would love to see how these
things are progressing.

Is there some specific reason for the later versions to lack this information?

Some kind of graphical progress bar might also be nice, but personally
I like most the info in the terminal.
