Hello,
as a little user managing 10000 familiar photos I can help a little with some ideas or proves.
It will be a first step to use the GNome calendar application for Place selection.
The capability to link or integrate a place tag to a geo position will be great.
To organizes photos not only chronological (timeline) but geographically (map with pan/zoom capability) will be very useful.

P.S. Is there a free(dom) database and interface linking geo data, with geographical names and icons (flags, etc)?
