I vote for pre-loading previous/next image(s). No matter how fast jpeg
decoding becomes, it is not as fast as *not decoding*. This was my
favorite feature from GQview but somehow that project seems to have
stopped.
Also there are image formats (think RAW) that are inherently slow to decode.
