The obviousness if this function is still unchanged. It's just a matter
of the user's background. Experienced vi users will discover and use
this function within a minute without even thinking about it. :-)

If it doesn't show up in your extension list (you DID update the list,
did you?) I think updating would the easiest way to get the extension as
well as many other good things. BTW Intrepid has 0.5.0.3.

The archive contains source code. You will have to compile it in order
to use the extension. You might as well persuade someone else to compile
it for you. If you decide to upgrade, I could be a potential victim.
