I generally agree with a lot of what you are saying - I'll compose a 
longer response to that email when I get a chance --- maybe on the metro 
home tonight...

I'm definitely in!   Although I've long since imported all of my iPhoto 
data - I really like the idea of being able to export a set of photos, 
and then import them back into f-spot in a different directory (external 
HD) or on a different machine.

I'll review Bengt's patch in more detail soon and make sure that it 
incorporates all of my changes.
