Great to see interest in a more scalable tagging interface. I haven't
tested your implementation yet, but Michael Dominic has implemented
another interface for tags in Diva as can be seen in this webcast -
http://www.mdk.org.pl/files/demo_5.html. 

The "just type it" approach sounds even more straight-forward though.
