Threading is unrelated to quoting other than by cultural
practices.  Notice that this messages is threaded, my response is below the
relevant text of the previous message, and all extraneous stuff has been deleted.

In my opinion, what you state in the second sentence of the preceding paragraph
isn't threading, but instead is proper reply behavior when participating in a tech
mailing list. Thank you for doing it. I wish everybody would.
