Hi Roger,

That'll be me then 🙂
It is a bit confusing the way this list is set up. Evolution (in my
case) has defaulted to sending email as html (which I find normal now)
- and it displays messages from the list as if they were html (the
quoted text shows as blue with a vertical bar in the left margin rather
than angle brackets). Even composing in plain text mode the smiley
above (colon hyphen close-bracket) is displaying as an image - I hope
it doesn't offend anyone if it arrives that way!
I have to remember to switch to plain text before sending. Is there a
setting somewhere to make a reply to a plain text message (eg from this
list) automatically compose in plain text - I'll bet there is, but
where is it please?
On the other hand is there a good reason not to have html messages on
the list - has anyone still got bandwidth issues? Is anyone not using
spam filtering which traps nasty html attempts? (I don't expect answers
or debate to those questions - they are rhetorical, and I accept the
list is what it is.)
Has there been any interest in having a proper support forum for
Evolution - maybe it exists and I haven't found it. I, for one, would
find it much more usable and useful that an email list. (That was a
real question)
Roger
PS thanks for the help on this thread and my original one - the muddy
waters are perhaps clearing a little.
