Re: [Evolution] Color of selected text...

Milan,

Thank you for the information, and the help!.  You have pegged the
issue exactly as to behavior and what is affected.  I had thought I had
answered the version question upthread, but it seems I did not.  I am
running version 3.18.5.1.  All installs are via synaptic, using
testing, in addition to system updates, save Google Chrome.

Also thank you for the suggestion for the work around, but, as you
said, it seems that it might cause other issues for other applications,
hence my reticence to take that route.

It seems I am running "libwebkitgtk-3.0-0", version 2.4.11-1 already.
I also see that libwebkit2gtk-4.0-37, and libwebkit2gtk-4.0-37-gtk2 are
still in place.

      Hi,
if your selected text is wrong only in the preview panel and when
writing a new email, in the message body (and not for example in
the Subject entry), then the issue is related to the WebKitGTK+
(sometimes packaged in distributions as webkitgtk3), namely:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=757503
which resulted into a fix in the WebKitGTK+ 2.4.10, but, please,
rather update straight to 2.4.11, which contains some fixes for
a regression introduced in the 2.4.10 release.

It could be workarounded when using a different gtk3 theme
(gnome-tweak-tool lets you change it for GNOME), but it has impact on
the whole desktop, thus usually not needed and the update of the
WebKitGTK+ is better.
      Bye,
      Milan

P.S.: By the way, I see some guesses on your evolution version
in the thread, but nothing from you about exact evolution version
(Help->About) you are using.
