If you can't block an image, then the image is embedded in the email
and no information will be leaked when it is displayed.

As Patrick says, turn off message preview - you should also turn off
the loading of remote content.

It also sounds like you need to look at your spam prevention measures -
if you can see that a message is spam before looking at it, then so can
a spam filter.
