Hmm, maybe more consecutive changes are required? I do not develop gtk3,
but it sometimes happen that one patch works because of previous changes
being done, even in other files than the patch touches, thus backporting
patch itself doesn't work as expected. I do not know whether this is the
case, though.
I submitted a new report for this issue to the GNOME Bugzilla [1].
Good. What about trying official gtk3 3.4.4? You might be able to verify
whether that version works as expected. (If you cannot go backward, go
forward) :)
