1. Yes an email copied into the Sent folder where the Eudora Outbox
emails were imported to does show the date normally in the message list.

I suspect that it is getting confused by the blank fields - especially
the "In-Reply-To:" & "References:" - RFC2822 [1], which the mbox format
uses as a specification for the messages within it, specifies that there
must be at least 1 msg-id in both those fields if they are present.
Whether Evo is that strict is something that a developer would have to
answer; there is also some merit in saying that if it is the case that
that's the problem, then Evo should be more lenient.
As a test you could try shuting down Evo completely (i.e. use "evolution
--force-shutdown") and edit the relevant Evo mbox file to remove the
lines with blank fields. (Making sure you have a backup copy of the
file, just in case.) Start up Evo again and see if the date is now
correct.
