i consider evolutions normal 'messages marked for deletion' handling to be along the lines of
1) select msg for deletion
2) mark msg for deletion
3) depending on setting, message will either be visible in inbox with strikethrough or message will be
hidden in inbox and message will be visible in Trash
4) expunge will delete message

is this the way it's supposed to work in MAPI?

what i am observing is
1) select msg for deletion
2) mark msg for deletion
3) depending on setting, message will either be visible in inbox with strikethrough or message will be
hidden in inbox but only for a short period of time
4) after short period of time (sometimes almost immediately) message will not be visible in inbox
regardless of settings
message will be found in Deleted Items folder
5) expunge will delete message

        Hi,
evolution-mapi uses real trash folder, the Deleted Items one, to move
messages marked for deletion there. As it is implemented right now, this
move is done on folder synchronization, which means either when you move
to a different folder, or when the update timeout comes (and some
similar cases which may invoke synchronization). Till this
synchronization the deleted messages are shown in its original folder,
after it, they are in the Deleted Items. On the same line depends what
the Expunge Folder will do, it may not always permanently delete
messages marked for deletion, but move them to Deleted Items folder.

Similar move-on-synchronization is done for junk messages too.
