For some reason, Evolution would not let me "reply to list" on this
message, so, I just addressed this to the list.

Reply-To-List only works if the replied-to message has the appropriate
list headers, which is not always the case, e.g. if the message was
itself a reply that wasn't sent using Reply-To-List. In other cases, you
can use Reply-To-All. In any case, use some kind of Reply in order to
keep the threading straight (keeping the same Subject line is
irrelevant).

Evidently this whole problem (titled "Evolution can't save settings" on
the list) was caused by my contact folder somehow getting changed to
reside on "Ubuntu One".  I changed it back to "On this computer" and
everything worked fine.

OK, assuming "Ubuntu One" is a different machine that was temporarily
unavailable, that makes sense.
