I use evolution to sync with my Google Contacts and it works well.
Please explain in more detail.
Just add a new address book in Evolution and select "Google" as the type
(instead of "On This Computer"). Works well, except that you can't use
this address book if you're not connected to the network.
I guess you have to take well with a small grain of salt...
This isn't anyone's fault - there is no way to represent an organization
in a vCard. vCard's only represent contacts (people). Various
applications *hack* support for non-person contacts [such as
organizations] into vCard - but if you move vCards between applications
and services this will almost always break.
The Mac Address Book can synch with Google Contacts. I then directed
evolution to synch with Google Contacts.
It worked fairly well except that all contacts that I had marked
as 'Company' in the Mac Address Book showed up without a name
by the time they arrived on the boxen running Evolution.
I'm a groupware developer - I'd really like a sample example of a
"Company" vCard from Mac Address book if it is possible for you to
export the vCard entry.
The company name field had moved to a field that was not displayed
as the main name.
Yes, the "main" name is FN, which is specifically the components of an
individuals name.
I did some pasting into the name field in Google contacts and
that seems to have helped ( but "A B C" displays as "C A" ).
