Folks,

I'm running Evolution 2.10 on Xubuntu 7.04b; how can I switch the
"preferred" app for opening *.doc files from abiword to openoffice's
swriter?

Hi, Pete.

This is done in Nautilus, not in evo. Find a .doc file, right click,
and go to the "Open With" tab. Select the program you want, and you're
done. Evo will respect those settings.

Ah, so I'll have to install Nautilus...with XUbuntu, I'm running Xfce as
the window/desktop manager. I thought there might merely be a file I
could tweak, since I don't have much Gnome stuff installed...

Thanks,

Pete

Ah, well, I used the brute-force approach. I installed Nautilus to make
the change, then uninstalled it. All works fine...

Best,

Pete

You could probably change the preferences in Thunar, click on a word
doc and edit preferences to open doc's with word instead of abiword.
Evolution should respect Thunar's settings also.

Many thanks, Chris. I'll keep that in mind if the issue crops up with
other programs...

With best regards,

Pete
