Is there a depot or step by step instruction somewhere to upgrade from evolution 2.6 to 2.8? I'm running SuSE 10.1 with Evolution 2.6.0-41 So pretty much a default load with patches from Suse 10.1 After struggling with issues with 2.6, and reading that there are many bug fixes with 2.8, I'd really like to get there. What I'm running into are errors like this when installing from tarballs. went to: http://www.gnome.org/projects/evolution/download.shtml and downloaded the tarballs. Installed gtkhtml and libsoup without issue. Evolution wants things like: ( evolution-2.8.0.tar ) configure: error: Package requirements (camel-provider-1.2 libedataserver-1.2 >= 1.7.90 libegroupwise-1.2 >= 1.7.90) were not met. A search reveals that I need data-server: evolution-data-server-1.8.0.tar.gz So I configure it and it does not configure exchange as yes. I continue anyway to see if I can add it later with the tarball "evolution-exchange-2.8.0.tar.gz". During the make it dies with many errors: last of them being: e-msgport.c:658: error: âPR_PENDING_INTERRUPT_ERRORâ undeclared (first use in this function) e-msgport.c: In function âe_msgport_getâ: e-msgport.c:697: error: âunion <anonymous>â has no member named âfdâ e-msgport.c:699: warning: implicit declaration of function âPR_Readâ e-msgport.c:699: error: âunion <anonymous>â has no member named âfdâ e-msgport.c:700: error: âPR_PENDING_INTERRUPT_ERRORâ undeclared (first use in this function) make[2]: *** [e-msgport.lo] Error 1 I cannot install the exchange piece without the evolution proper. I'm pretty sure that I'm simply missing some prerequisites some where. Can any one help or point me to a good follow these steps dummy sort of doc? Thanks jms
Due to package dependency requirements, you're better off using openSUSE 10.2alpha at this point to run Evo 2.8. -- Cheers, Trey ---- Satellite Safety Tip #14: If you see a bright streak in the sky coming at you, duck.
