[Evolution] Evolution mime types

Hi, 

For months I've been trying to sort out why evolution doesn't open .doc files directly from a message (without saving it first) 

I've read about mime types, tried to edit it but it failed. Does anyone know where evolution stores the list of file types which can be handled directly. If it uses gnome configuration, what should I edit to get to the point. 

Why couldn't it be as simple as MS Outlook that I would be able to choose an apllication by "select other app" and make it the default action

I don't use Gnome but KDE
