I find it quite tedious to have to wait for Evolution (2.4.2.1) to have to wait for gpg to return the result of a message integrity check before displaying the message for reading. It would be nice if the integrity check could happen asynchronously and update the message display when it has gotten the answer. So like: 1. Retrieve message. 2. Display message. 3. Display "Integrity unknown... Signature check in progress" where integrity status is normally shown. 4. Launch gpg, and wait async. for it's return. 5. Update message display if it returns while message is still being displayed. 6. If message display is closed before gpg returns, kill it.
