but I still have no spell checking

Here is what I have installed for spell checkers:
wizej:~ # rpm -qa |grep pell
[...]
aspell-0.60.2-3
aspell-en-0.51.1-2.1
gnome-spell2-1.0.6-4
Those are the ones necessary for spell checking in Evolution:
gnome-spell >= 1.0.x, aspell and at least one aspell-$LANG language
package.
However, the installed versions aspell 0.60 and aspell-en 0.51 may
conflict. Not sure, but IIRC you need to upgrade aspell-en as well.
Otherwise this language pack won't work with the installed aspell.
Sorry. Forgot a bit of my own history on this process. I instlled the
aspell-en from 9.2 tree of SuSE as 9.3 no longer has it.
If there is no English language available at all, it seems to not be
necessary. *sigh* I doubt SuSE will drop English support. ;) See below.

As you can see their are aspell-en-debug info but no aspell-en package.
That is why I tried the 9.2 version, but as you alluded to this may not
work. Is their anyone who knows where I can find an aspell-en package or
source to compile which will work? I have googled around and tried to
find source package but no luck.
Well, maybe that's it?
IIRC the aspell package of SuSE already contains one language package
(which is not the case with any other distro). The mix of language
packages from different SuSE versions might be the culprit. Even more,
as you now maybe got two English language packs...
Can anyone else running SuSE 9.3 with a working spell checker please
post the installed packages?
$ rpm -qa | grep spell | sort
...guenther
My 9.3 has enough things in it to be a bit confused, so I'll cut to the
chase:
I have aspell-en-6.0-3, and my spell checking works fine.
