Hmm, why? Sure, GNOME and KDE maybe use different spell checkers, but
this issue is related to GNOME and its preferred spell checker only.

Those are the ones necessary for spell checking in Evolution:
gnome-spell >= 1.0.x, aspell and at least one aspell-$LANG language
package.

However, the installed versions aspell 0.60 and aspell-en 0.51 may
conflict. Not sure, but IIRC you need to upgrade aspell-en as well.
Otherwise this language pack won't work with the installed aspell.

Just a guess, though...
