[Evolution] Pine and Evolution

Hi 
I am a new member of this mailing list and have some queries.
Why is Evolution slower than Outlook Express when delivering the same
volume of mail? Why does my Pine send mail but not deliver it? Some
experienced people have told me that they prefer devices like Pine for
mail handling rather than say Pine or Outlook Express. Why do you think
that is?
